Beyond the proven benefit in reducing vascular risks, the appropriate objective of the blood pressure (FACING) in older patients with hypertension remains unclear. The different recommendations of international scientific societies come together at a level of less than 150mmHG., in between 130 a 139 mmHg the smallest of 130 mmHg. A disparity of criteria to which must be added the conclusions of a recent observational study that suggests that reduction of blood pressure below 130 mmHg provides greater benefit, but should be done with caution in older patients.
