About the seminar
High blood pressure affects more than 30% of the world's adult population and is the main risk factor for cardiovascular disease, especially coronary heart disease and cerebrovascular disease, but also for chronic kidney disease, heart failure and dementia.
Accurate blood pressure measurement is essential for proper diagnosis and treatment of hypertension.. Blood pressure measurement is perhaps the most frequently performed procedure in clinical medicine and, although it seems simple at first glance, If the measurement is performed in a suboptimal way, it leads to errors that can affect clinical decisions up to the 20-45% of the cases. Knowing how well health workers measure blood pressure, and improving the measurement technique are key elements of a successful hypertension control program..
The event will be structured in two parts.: of 9:00 a 10:00 am (EDT), papers will be presented on interventions that are making a difference in the control of hypertension, practical experiences of countries and partners, and presentation of new tools for hypertension control programs. The second part, of 10:30 am a 12:00 pm (EDT) will focus on the presentation of a new training and training resource for the correct measurement of blood pressure..
