The participants were monitored annually from 1998 until the 2015, framed in the Women´s Health Initiative-Observational Study(EU). The study revealed that there is a positive correlation between tooth loss and the risk of hypertension among postmenopausal women. And this association is much greater among younger participants and those with a lower body mass index.. Compared to the rest of the women, The participants presented a 20% at higher risk of suffering from hypertension. Nevertheless, No significant relationship was found between the presence of periodontal diseases and hypertension., In addition, the mechanisms underlying the correlation found in this study still remain unknown.. Nonetheless, one of the authors of the work states that tooth loss should be a warning sign for increased blood pressure.
