The Chilean Hypertension Society is a non-profit society created in the year 1987 with the aim of developing research, teaching and assistance in the field of arterial hypertension, also carrying out outreach activities to the general population.
Researchers from the areas of Economics and Public Health propose implementing a tax on foods labeled “high in”, in order to reduce chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes or obesity.
Analysis commissioned by the Treasury and Health of the previous government, shows proposed levy amounts for high-sodium products, sugar and saturated fat.
